This week we had some cool experiences applying what we learned with Elder Aidukaitis last week! We’ve been working a lot harder, talking to a lot more people, and seeing some really cool experiences. I definitely am learning that as my companions and I are diligent, we are blessed by the Lord!
Yesterday Elder Gomes and I were at the neurologist’s office to deliver an elder’s test results, and we ended up waiting there for about two hours. We started off just chatting with the people next to us, and a few had had experiences with the church already, and gradually more people started to listen. Then Elder Gomes had a great idea! We asked permission from the receptionist, and we plugged in a USB drive to the TV in the waiting room and started playing videos, starting with Because He Lives, this year’s Easter initiative:
[Portuguese version here, English version below.] We showed a few more, and it was great! A lot of people in the waiting room really enjoyed it and we’ll be visiting them this week.
As we’ve been meeting more and more people, I’ve been noticing that many people are really prepared to hear the message of the Gospel, but also that many others simply are not. I was studying Moses 7, and it’s interesting to read the part where Enoch sees God weep as they look upon the people who don’t receive the Gospel and Enoch says, “How is it that the heavens weep, and shed forth their tears as the rain upon the mountains?” And God explains to him that He gave to His sons and daughters the right to choose to follow Him, and some did not, and because of this Satan will have power over them. “Wherefore should not the heavens weep, seeing these shall suffer?” So it’s very sad for us to see the people who turn down our message, either because they’re not ready yet, or because they simply choose not to.
I can’t think of anything else that happened this week…I learned a song on the ukelele, the weather is getting cooler, I think that’s about it!
Love you all, thanks for the letters and everything!
